It's a nice place to visit, but you're literally trapped on an island and cannot go anywhere. I did some time there in the Navy and could not wait to get out of there. Not to mention that the "native Hawaiians" are some of the nastiest people you'll ever come across, and they do not like haoles.

yea pretty much what I've heard from friends
I dated a girl a few years back who lived in Hawaii for 3 years and she said the locals(namely the men) got extemely defensive and violent if mainlanders hit on "their" women
