What makes people think that LA fans will support a team that starts losing the 3rd time around?

Because lack of fan support was never the reason a team left Los Angeles. The blackout rule is what did it. When you play in a 100,000-seat stadium and sell 70,000 tickets, you're blacked out in the 2nd biggest market. Both former Los Angeles teams were screwed by this.
