I have a boat. What other options does that give me? (I mena besides just heading down a river and dropping nets on the bank)....Any spots known to be decent?

I know this sounds really general, but just go put your boat in the basin and look around. I'd recommend the Henderson side. If you put in at Kern's, there is good crawfishing close when it gets a little warmer. Look for shallow water and good vegetation. Lillys can be good if on shallow flats. It really can be as easy as setting traps along the bank of some back bayous up against the grass.
It make take you a couple times to find good spots, but it'll be a good experience with your kids and it'll show them how to do things the right way. Like everyone else said though, you need to wait until the weather is actually warm. A couple warm-ish days aren't going to do you much good.
