Being a college basketball head coach has many facets, but the three most important are recruiting, player development and motivation, and in-game strategy/tactics.
JJ is doing very well with recruiting. But he's failing with the others two facets (although Quarterman has improved his offensive game dramatically from last year, so I give JJ and his staff credit there).
But our guys seem to play with little passion, and I'm afraid a lot of that comes from JJ himself. He looks dead on the sidelines. Players feed off of their coach. Just recall the emotion that Dale Brown got out of his players every night.
And JJ's in-game strategy & tactics are just not good, which is clearly evident to all honest fans who are watching with eyes wide open. Terrible half-court offensive sets, little movement, sloppy movement of the ball, etc.
