I'm confident it won't crash and burn like Halo simply because 343 isn't involved.
I definitely think the series needs some new life though. Link Between Worlds was great and a good start. Hopefully the Zelda Wii U title will continue that kind of innovation and experimentation.
I'd also like to see the series expand on some of the background and history of the worlds Link is in. I can understand Zelda needing a least an appearance but Gannon doesn't need to always be in the game and the conflict doesn't always have to center around the Triforce. Expand the world/worlds Link is in and you can move away from the rehashed fight for the Triforce with Zelda and Gannon.
