Got it on the summer steam sale and never got around to playing it.

Then I decided I didn't want to possibly spoil Witcher 3 by burning out on Witcher 2.

Got bored so I fired it up.

I'm using a game pad and not the keyboard. Seems a bit clunky. I might need to switch to the keyboard.

The gamepad just seemed really slow and non responsive. Thoughts? Other than DoUrden, I know you are Mr. Keyboard. Still don't know how you did that for Inquisition.

Do I have to use traps and spells and all of that crap or can I focus on one main attack (swords)?

Got clobbered in the tutorial. Always takes me a bit to get used to the controls and I think my brain is still locked into Dragon Age.

Was surprised to start the prologue with some tits and bush...

Great game; you're sure to enjoy it! Although you'll probably want to do at least 2 different runs making different choices. It is kind of like DA:I in that regard.

I played the game on 360, and then later on PC and also used the gamepad. I couldn't get used to doing combat with keyboard + mouse, although there are purists who will swear by k&m. I just felt this game felt smoother with gamepad for me.

Have fun with it! I've been thinking about firing it back up myself, but I just started Divinity: Original Sin. My replay of W2 will have to wait.

The more people describe the witcher the more I think I may play it for a little and possibly go straight to 3 if it handles better.

Great game. Starts slow. Everyone gets rekt in the tutorial.

You don't need to use traps. You will need to weave magic into your sword fighting.

Even after the prologue things remain a bit slow. shite gets real about mid chapter 1 iirc.

Fighting requires a lot of dodging and parrying. It's not a hack n slash

Yeah, I don't know how he played DA:I with keyboard either, and I'm pretty much pro-keyboard in all games. Keyboard worked well with Witcher 2 for me. I didn't like the combat as much in 2 as I did in 1, it was more dynamic but less complex if that makes any sense at all. And a little clunky as you mentioned (but workable).

You'll have to use spells some, though not really traps and potions too much unless you want. Witcher 2 involves alot of dodging around or parrying.

And pretty much everyone gets clobbered in the tutorial, it's a pretty shitty tutorial. One of the things they are supposed to be fixing with 3 is having things scale better and the controls.
