I would say part of the reason is Bama having less concern over turning kids away later (grey shirts, etc). They don't do it as much as we LSU fans like to think they do, but it's definitely a different mindset.

And at the end of the day, you can see LSU's policy of not turning away in-state kids if offered in the offers given out. Miles/Wilson will be much more liberal in their offers to OOS kids while offers for LA kids aren't as numerous. But if an in-state recruit is offered, almost all the time it's commitable and if there's a number problem more than likely the OOS kid will get the "sorry, but..." phone call.
