Damn, that's fricked up.

Why would it be limited to Plex though? Or is it any streaming service? What about Netflix or Amazon?

Short term, some exec increases revenue and gets hired somewhere else at a substantial increase in pay because he can increase revenue!

He takes the promotion and leaves the original company in shambles long term.

After all, it is a money based society. And companies are no longer geared to long term employee retention.
