Ok, how many movies did this one rip of...er um, "pay homage" to? Wasn't a bad movie. It kept me interested throughout. Basically like a video game. Gotta beat the minor bosses until you get to the Big Boss battle.

Here are three movies "paid homage to":

The Matrix (the "Mimics" looked like the squigglies)

Starship Troopers (the "brain bug", among others)

Saving Private Ryan (duh)

There are more, but I'd like to see your thoughts

Quick, tell me a modern movie that doesn't "rip off" or "pay homage" to 10 other films.

The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the look of the Mimics. They could have done a much better job there

The one it seemed to mimic most (no pun intended) was Source Code.

well, you know, that is because the writer of the book based his book on a character living through a video game.

so if anything resembles another movie, it's basically a ripoff? Is sharknado a ripoff of jaws? they both have sharks in it. No it's not because Sharknado is a masterpiece

Yep, they obviously borrowed the replay events theme from Groundhog Day but I really enjoyed the movie as I do most of Tom Cruise's movies.

Judging by this write up...it was a rip-off of The Game of Death with Bruce Lee too.

But I think we should be a little more cautious using that term...otherwise, Tarantino is a huge rip-off artist as well.

Its adapted from a short story called "All You Need Is Kill." Its a quick read.

I loved the movie. One of the best sci fi movies I've seen in a while. The action and pacing were fantastic. Cruise, just about the time you think he's done, he puts up one of these.

Those are the two that came to my mind when watching. I really enjoyed it.
