At football games you try and get loud enough so the opposition can't hear the play call. You can't really do that in basketball.

Well, the 2-3 times the PMAC actually got loud last night, Auburn burned timeouts. If the place could sustain that level of energy, the opposition would eventually run out of timeouts and would have to just deal with the noise. There's a reason why Duke is practically invincible in their building.

Let's talk about the cheerleaders now. Why the hell are they in the building if they aren't trying to pump the crowd up at all? WOW, you can jump up into a large man's arms and balance your bony arse on his palm while shaking a pom pom. That doesn't excite me, and it sure as hell doesn't make me want to cheer for the team.

All we have is the band which by default shuts up the crowd when we need to keep the noise going the most. The system is flawed, but that's none of my business.

you honestly dont think crowd noise effects basketball games?

It gives our players an energy lift. It creates pressure on the opposition. Yes it even effects the refs. There is a reason why its harder to win on the road.
