When you plan to go obviously matters, but you shouldn't be over $8000 for 10 days IMHO. You should be able to score flights for $3000, leaving you $500 to spend on hotel, food, travel, etc. every day. You said you weren't looking to travel "ot baller" style, so that really should be plenty... And that should still allow to stay in nice hotels and eat well.
