Not sure how many of you were following recruiting 10 years ago, but it's interesting to see who made it into USA Today's coverage following NSD in 2005. Obviously, Perrilloux was big news around here a few weeks into the Miles Era. Some other names stand out, too.

What a Merry Flipmas Perrilloux was.

Without looking it up, who were the two players that were supposed to be a package deal with Perrilloux?

Oh man Fred Rouse. He was billed as teh next Randy Moss but could never stay out of trouble.

Some pretty solid talent on that roster of All Americans.

Found it interesting that the piece mentiones Phillip Fulmer's new $2M contract making him one of the highest paid coaches in America.

Things have changed dramatically in 10 years. If we keep Perriloux in the program there's no telling how good he could have been. A real shame!

Interesting to look back to compare REALITY to projections.

Tenn, Neb, and Michigan were the projected big winners. All three coaches are gone due to lack of production, and all three schools have not recovered.

Ahhhhhhh, recruiting experts.

quote:

"I want to go in and throw for about 1,500 yards, maybe 2,000, and rush for 700, maybe 1,000," Perrilloux said. "With the great defense and the offense, I could definitely be a Heisman winner next year or at least a candidate."

Martellus Bennett flipped a coin when he was on a FoxSports recruiting show. If it landed on one side, he was going to LSU. If it landed on the other, Texas A&M.

The coin landed on the LSU side and he said something to the like, "Well, I dont want to go there so I'm going to Texas A&M."

A funny story that I know of: Jimbo and Saban had Darry Beckwith in their office in the summer.

Saban told Darry and his mom that he wanted them at LSU, and would like for him to commit as soon as possible.

Darry kind of nervously didn't say anything, then his mom said, "Son, you better open your mouth and tell Coach Saban you're going to LSU."

saw the list of Miles' 06 class. there's like 5 or 6 current or ex NFL players from it. We have put a stupid amount of players in position to make NFL rosters over the last decade
