The players we had were a big factor in the success of those defenses. Chavis is good but he lost us some games with his 3rd and Chavis playcalling. It was time for a change.

I've been adamant that Chavis' success was based largely on having top talent because his scheme is very basic. However, he's proven that his scheme works, particularly against spread offenses. Steele, not so much.
It may have been time for a change, but Steele is still a pretty big step down from Chavis. Hopefully he proves me wrong, but his previous stops don't give me a lot of optimism.

i've watched the same games everyone else has and have little doubt there is something to "3rd and Chavis".
but are there any stats to proving Chavis led defenses are prone to allowing longer gains on 3rd down vs. National Averages.
