In general, you're more rested for morning workouts ideally since you are coming off of 7+ hours of resting/sleeping/recovery.
Working out in the afternoon is usually following a full day of work and lord knows what other stresses that were put on the body throughout the day

I lift around noon everyday now, but when I was in college i'd lift at 6:00am.
Woke up, got dressed in 5 mins, took no-xplode on the way there on an empty stomach. First exercise was always a bit rough but then I was good to go.
