Question for people who know a ton more about this stuff than myself: is there any discernible difference in working out in the morning vs in the evening?

I read a book (albeit it was quite a while ago) that said first thing in the morning, even before eating, is best because it a)burns more fat (since you don't have many carbs stored up after just waking up, your body will turn to fat next to burn through) and b) keeps your metabolism stoked throughout the day

There are two camps out there - working out on an empty stomach v. fueling up before a workout. I'm not sure about body building/weight gain situations, but most of the research I've seen touts the benefits of doing early morning cardio on an empty stomach. Personally, I get up 30 minutes before, have a cup of coffee, check emails, work out a shite, and head out on my run. I don't like running on a full stomach.

For those of you that have replied to this thread, how many of you have kids?

I have three - that's why I get up early to work out. I'm done and back in the house before they even wake up.
