I downloaded direct from the link you posted above (I shouldn't have said repo) and installed from that zip file.

Just wanted to thank guys for the great info here.

I've lurked & learned enough to " shave the cord" & cut my cable TV bill by $72 per month.

Never really heard of Roku , but for lurking enough here & purchased 2 Roku 3 boxes several weeks ago.

I prefer TV / movies "on demand" & streaming movies has been great so far .

Great information here guys.

Nice! I'm getting dizzy with all these updates. Supposedly this fixes atdhenet issues.

Here is a direct download link. I haven't installed it yet though.

Haven't read through this whole thread. Cut the cord about a year ago. What is the Tech Board's thoughts on Popcorn Time? Any suggestions? I am thinking about downloading it tonight. Do any of y'all use a VPN with it?

Couple questions.

How long do you let movies buffer before starting them?

Is there a tutorial for enabling 5.1 through Kodi?

Yeah, few movies took a little long to load for me when I tried it today.

I have Sports Devil added.

I have been using Genesis to do movies and TV episodes, but I can't figure out how to add them to my library or file list. Any suggestions?

Or, any suggestions on better movie/tv apps to install?

Alright, I started a thread when I guess I should have just posted in here, but like I said, I'm ready to cut the cord and stop playing $160 a month for a phone line I don't even use, cable, and Internet... I know absolutely nothing about the whole 'cutting the cord' thing and could really use some help... What are my options?

I have three TVs in my house that i want hooked up

The only channels we watch are AMC, HGTV, all of the ESPNS, and Disney

I'd like to be able to watch the shows like TWD and football games on Sundays when they originally air

I also need Internet access

I know it gets talked about A LOT on here, but I honestly have zero clue what my options are or where to even begin, and like I said, I'm really trying to make the switch sometime this week so any help would be greatly appreciated

TIA

ETA : I'd even consider not 'cutting the cord' of there was a good internet/tv bundle out there

What you want is Sling Tv

It's $20 a month for the channels you listed, and $25 for SECN, ESPNU, ESPN NEWS.

Only thing is, you can only watch it on one device at one time

So i'd have to get two different boxes for my house? Or two different accounts?

I believe you need two devices to run the app (i.e. two Fire TV Sticks) and two accounts.

Okay guys officially cutting the cable cord! Someone let me know if I've got what I need

Getting 15mbps internet
Have Hulu, Netflix, HBOGo
I have my parents old cable log in for Watch ESPN, FOX, CBS, ect.... So I have my sports mostly covered.

I use my cable mostly for watching TV shows and I do most of my sports watching on my IPAD anyway.

Anything I really really need before cutting the cord that I don't already have?

ETA: getting a Roku as well

amazon has a new fire tv and it is supposed to be good. i have the original with kodi and updated, added, etc new repos and the like. then i discovered the beast. it takes over kodi and has everything installed. i changed the skin to look like apple tv and manually unistalled repos and things that i did not want (took forever) and also because it is everything; there are some non kid friendly repos. here's the youtube link to joenobody who keeps up with these type of things. he's funny, but has some good info and to dos

I have friends who ask me about my setup and how they can do it. I tell them you have to spend time educating yourself and even then it won't be perfect. It just depends on how disgusted you are paying for cable. KODI is certainly not for everyone.

same for me.
i will bring my gbox with me when we travel and have several friends/family members curious about it and say they want the same setup to cut their cable bill.

they all eventually ask, "if I buy it online, have it shipped to you, will you set it up for me?"

the answer is always, No. If they can't figure out how to set it up themselves or are too lazy to, I'm not willing to help them troubleshoot it or answer the inevitable 1000 questions they will have.
