I have degrees from LSU and UT-Austin. I've been the chief on campus recruiter for a large oil company at LSU, A&M, and others.

The LSU degree is more highly regarded outside of LA than many of you think. As some have said, it comes down to programs and colleges of strength within each university, but the overriding determinant is the individual themselves. LSU more than holds its own. It is a Tier 1 university, albeit at the lower range of Tier 1.

I know a lot of Bama, A&M, Auburn, Texas grads... on average the LSU grads I know have outpaced them 15 years into careers, and on average are more self starters and risk takers than any of the above except Texas.

Just my observations. Carry on....

As others have noted, the individual traits of an applicant are the most important criteria.
And most of us see a heavy mix of LSU degrees and many / most of the hires are from there.
Likewise, in individual disciplines, LSU is can be highly regarded.
This in no way diminishes the original point: LSU degrees are not highly regarded nationally.
As someone else noted, be are in the top tier, rated at the low end.
We should devote attention and resources to improving our school as a whole, not just the football program.
