It is political suicide for a legislator from one of these places to let that happen.

This is what's really going on. Could you imagine the ammunition a democratic candidate would have in Shreveport if his or her competitor suggested shutting down SUSLA like it should be?

The elephant in the room is that it's a crime for a lot of these kids who attend low tier universities in the state who have false hope of landing a job after graduation. A lot of successful alumni of these schools send their kids to LSU, tulane, or OOS and give their money and even athletic support to LSU

oh I wouldn't limit this to just "low tier" universities. I have a feeling the unemployment lines are littered with college graduates from all universities. And all disciplines.

The elephant in the room is the belief that the only way to get a good job is to get a college degree. In this current job market, that simply isn't true. Yet higher ed and the lending institutions (including the Federal Gov.) keep selling people on the importance of a degree. the whole time many of these students (some who probably are not suited for such academic endeavors) borrow money that in turn goes to the universities. In return, the borrower gets a degree that is of little use- devalued because degrees are more commonplace. Oh and a big fat load of crippling debt with which to start his/her adult working life. Thank you very much!!
THAT is the elephant in the room and the real scandal.
