How unnerving was it staying there overnight
The bedroom was fine. The closing down at night, including walking through the large chapel and locking up and then walking back through it with no lights on was a bit unnerving when we had bodies in house.
We played plenty of practical jokes on friends at night in that place.

I remember it. Some surburbs of bham got closer to 20 inches.
The storm was very well forecasted and predicted. People had several days to prepare. A cat 2-3 hurricane was coming and temps in the bham area were forecast to be in the low teens or single digits so there was no doubt what was going to happen. The news told people to prepare to be without power for days and to be very cold.
It was a miserable arse week. I was just a kid, but that shite scarred me and I remember it well. No power and freezing arse cold huddled in front of the fire place eating the same cold food everyday was no fun. Won't ever forget how miserable those 6-7 days without power being cold the entire time and the whole family sleeping close together in front of the fire.

My grandma worked at a funeral home and when I was young and she'd pick me up from school or something, I'd be there with her till she closed at night. I was so fricking scared looking down dark hallways and being alone, I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there
If you remember that plane crash in the early 80's in Kenner, they had a lot of the bodies from that one. She walked me through where they were doing their thing and asks me "Are you scared of seeing dead bodies?" and my 8 yo tough guy self said not at all I saw so many people and I vividly remember seeing chests peeled back and lots of body juice
