Yeah. It's way easier to make money off of DVD's and TV showings than having do deal will the bazillion costs involved in having to distribute it to theaters. If your movie doesn't have a lot of star power and your studio has another movie it is more interested in putting on the rounds in the theater, then it makes sense to go straight-to-video. Especially if it is part of a franchise that has a name that would probably sell. The only cost there is producing the DVD/Blu-Ray, and in the case of TV showings you're pretty much raking in the ad revenue. I'm not sure about the in-and-outs of Netflix but I assume there is significant profit potential there as well. Entire companies are able to operate this way.
