Wouldn't it make more money in the theaters though? Why go straight to DVD when you can make more distributing it to theaters?

People who have "seen everything" will rent it from Redbox, On Demand or just buy it cheap... and they save MILLIONS of dollars by not having to promote it. Think of how much prime TV spots cost...not to mention all the materials that have to be printed for theaters.
