Is there a worse basketball coach at a Power 5 school than Rick Barnes?

Couldn't make it out of the second round with Kevin Durant and hasn't made a Sweet 16 since 2008. His players on teams since then have included Damion James, Dexter Pittman, Jordan Hamilton, Avery Bradley, Corey Joseph, Tristan Thompson, Myck Kabongo, and J'Covan Brown.

Is there any coach that can come close to matching that?

Tom Crean, mostly because he's a major douche.

I agree with golden nugget actually. Scott Drew and Travis ford are the laughing stocks of the big 12. Barnes is better than both

Also there are obviously guys much worse that can't coach or recruit. But Barnes is pretty bad as far as guys that people think are good

Scott Drew

He's a terrible in-game coach, but what he's done at Baylor has been pretty remarkable.

Overall, I think he's a good coach, as the in-game part is only one factor.

Barnes is a fine coach.

You act like Durant just magically appeared in Austin to suit up for Texas

He has done what he has done by being shady

But they have had tons of talent and haven't done much. Yes they made the Elite 8 twice but both years the bracket unfolded perfectly for them, they never defeated a single digit seed to get there

Rick Barnes is the master of being just good enough to keep his job. It's pretty remarkable how long he's been there.

He's like a slightly poorer man's Mark Richt.

Also, UCLA's coach.

The Baylor rebuild has been solid but that's all he is good for . He should probably try it again somewhere else like Ucla or something. Those types of schools will probably never hire him though

2010 Baylor could have easily won it all. They should have beaten Duke.

Who am I missing?

And I'll agree with most that Alford and Drew aren't great. Ford isn't that good either. The big difference is that Barnes is at Texas and Drew and Ford are at Baylor and OSU respectively.

I've been saying this for a couple of years now. He has two major metro areas at his recruiting disposal. Dude should be a fixture in the Sweet16 and a top 20 team every year
