I always say "pop"
Soda is foreign in Canada

Just like when I am in the US and people look at me funny when I ask where the washroom is instead of the restroom

I know they have the "pop" thing. I dont get how they differentiate though. Between the different types.

I guess it originated when we did not have 75 different types of soft drinks
