Here's what I do to determine a fair price:

1) go to cars.com and search for the same truck. Search a radius of 500 miles. Get specific. Mileage, option packs, everything. Then sort from cheapest to most expensive.

2) for older cars ebay motors is a good reference. You can search recently completed auctions to see accurate selling prices. This won't work as well for a newer truck.

Or just ask for $6k off and see what happens.

When I bought my Yukon I emailed the dealer an offer through cars.com. I noticed it had been in their inventory for months, and had been moved from their GMC store to their Honda store. I asked for about $4k off ask and they accepted through email. Went down to Alexandria later that day.
