You used to be able to get a 5 or 10% discount at HD on every purchase when you used your HD card, but you had to ask for it

IMO most of the Home Depot/Lowes products are average to below average in quality. And many times you save money by going to a speciality dealer for things like lumber, drywall etc.
As far as the credit card, I put everything on my house on a 2% cash back card. Mine was Capital One because I bank with them but any card offering 2% on all purchases is a good idea.
