After ten seasons, does anyone really think Les would have taken a different approach had the external circumstances been 'normal'? I don't. He would have still slowed the game down (which is by no means all bad).
Slowed the game down? Sure. but does anyone, even with 20/20 hindsight think slowing it down was why LSU's guys ran out of gas that night? The miracle wasn't TENN's comeback...it was that LSU had enough in the tank that night to even jump out to that lead. That crowd willed the guys to that point...it just could not be sustained.

And it ought to be mentioned that the UTenn team finished 5-6 (I think), had to fly to Red Stick on game day and play in an environment that many will rank as sauna-like. It wasn't just us who had unusual circumstances to deal with.
Equating having to fly in on gameday to what LSU's team had gone through the weeks leading up to that game (for frick's sake JaMarcus Russell had Fats Domino sleeping on his damn coach) is at best disingenuous. Yes...that TENN was not very good, and they would have likely gotten destroyed by LSU later in the year. It just was not meant to be that night...
Likewise, LSU would have given UGA a much better game during the season when they finally got their legs back than they did at the end being the only team in the league without a bye week.
11 wins that year was incredible.

I think you're deflecting from the point: had the externals been normal they wouldn't have changed Les's pace or approach. The effects of the external circumstances on the score were negligible.
