It has to be one team per state that dominates coverage for the respective state:
Alabama- Tide football
Alaska- ?? Seahawks?
Arizona- cardinals or UA basketball
Arkansas- Berts Football team
California- Lakers
Colorado- Broncos
Connecticut- Red Sux
Delaware- philly Eagles
Florida- this often changes. I'd go with UF football
Georgia- UGA football
Hawaii- ??? UHawaii football
Idaho- Boise St. football
Illinois- Da Bears
Indiana- IU basketball
Iowa- Iowa football
Kansas- Jayhawks bball
Kentucky- UK bball
Louisiana- LSU football
Maine: Red Sux
Maryland- Ravens
Massachusetts: Red Sux
Michigan- UM football
Minnesota- Vikings
Mississippi- Ole Piss football
Missouri- Cardinals
Montana- grizzlies football???
Nebraska- Cornchuckers football
Nevada- ??? UNLV Bball
New Hampshire- red Sux
New Jersey- Giants
New York- Yankees
New Mexico- ??? Lobos bball??
North Carolina- UNC bball
North Dakota- NDSU football
Ohio- Buckeyes football
Oklahoma- Sooners FB
Oregon- Ducks FB
Pennsylvania- Steelers
Rhode island- NE patriots
SC- Gamecock FB
South Dakota- Vikings
Tennessee- rocky Top FB
TEXAS- COWBOYS (they do things big in Texas)
Utah- BYU FB
Vermont- red Sux
Virginia- Redskins
Washington- Seahawks
West Virginia- WVU FB
Wisconsin- packers
Wyoming- Broncos

I don't think it's fair to compare coverage of college teams vs pro teams.

Especially in a state like Ohio.

Ohio State dominates the coverage in Columbus but isn't really that way at all in Cincinnati and a little bit in Cleveland.

The Browns get a bunch of coverage on Sundays and throughout the week. Bengals do play second fiddle to them though.

P.S. - How do you know what dominates the coverage in all 50 states?

Definitely not UofA Basketball. Probably the Cardinals just because of the power of the NFL.

I travel quite a bit and it is the stuff I hear on the radio or read in the local newspapers. Observations that's all.

I'm in cincinnati and the bengals/reds absolutely dominate during their respective seasons.

I've also lived in kansas, Kentucky, and Georgia and you have those states all easily correct

Wisconsin is like the most obvious and easy answer of all 50 states

Yeah, Cincinnati has a hatred of all things Ohio State as a whole.

Same thing for a state like Pennsylvania.

The state is too diverse for one team to dominate. The Eagles dominate the east part of the state, the Steelers dominate the western portion.

California has too much going on and too many different geographic areas for one team to dominate.

Maybe I should have phrased the thread...which team is synonymous with the state? Or something to that tune or Word association. When you tell me Ohio, I'd say Buckeyes is the first thing that pops up in my head.

Would that team have to reside in that state in order to be synonymous

Take California.

They have three NBA teams, 3 NFL teams and countless high level college teams (USC, UCLA, Stanford, etc.)

Not one team can dominate the coverage. Especially when pockets of the state just hate each other.

But the lakers are still the right pick. He's not gonna just say ok no one for that state. Gotta pick one. Steelers are the right pick for Pennsylvania as well. Packers ae correct for Wisconsin.

Indiana might be the colts but Hoosier basketball has a pretty heavy identity with the state. Don't know coverage wise, but I'm sure the nfl gets more than college basketball.

Rhode Island should be the Red Sox and not the Patriots...and Rhode Island is certainly more Red Sox centric than Connecticut, which has a fair amount of Yankee fans given its proximity to NY
