I've gotten into Tom Waits a little lately and am loving it so far. Pretty good shite. Closing Time is a badass album. I'm looking for general suggestions from his library.

Closing Time is a good album but it's much different from most of his stuff, he started putting out rmuch stranger stuff in 83 starting with Swordfishtrombones.
Raindogs, Frank's Wild Years, and Swordfishtrombones are my favorite albums of his but they are all good.
I'll post some of my favorite songs by him...
Clap Hands
Singapore
Shore Leave
16 Shells From a 30 ought six
Innocent When You Dream
Hang On St Cristopher
Frank's Wild Years

He sang the opening track for The Wire: Season 2...

Thr original version of the song is the Tom Waits version, he wrote it. It's on his album Frank's Wild Years. The versions by other artists are covers.

Imo, he's the GOAT songwriter. Swordfishtrombones and heart of Saturday night are my favorite albums.

He was great in Wristcutters: A Love Story.

I appreciate it. I've got this thread saved for future listening.
