Historic moment: Power Five athletes will be paid beyond the traditional scholarship up to federally determined actual cost of attendance.

The vote was 79-1, with the lone objection coming from an ACC school.

They are already paying their room and board. What else is there?

The idea that these players don't get enough funds to live is laughable. Maybe at the smaller schools but definitely not at the power 5 conference schools

The players are going to blow this money on stupid shite, then complain that their "pay" (and scholarships) aren't enough.

Grown arse men in the NFL go broke with millions. What do you think these young kids are gonna do with the money they get?

I don't think the schools should pay them, but let the kids market off their name. If Nike or Under Armour wants to sign them, let them.

How was it 79-1 when there are 65 P5 schools?

I am not for or against honestly but if a coach of these kids can make millions then the kids should be getting fair value.

Is that just a scholarship?

Some of these kids have nothing; their families have nothing. Yeah, there are many, maybe even most, whose families are in good shape, or good enough shape, but there are plenty who have nothing. Even Dabo's mom had to live with him in his dorm room because they had nothing. Why begrudge them a few thousand dollars?

It's all about money now and these football programs claim to be separate private entities so the players may as well be paid. They are making the school money, right?
