? The Associated Press violated their obligation to the BCS by voting USC the number 1 team. Yes, USC has in their name the 2003 and 2004 AP National Championships. LSU did not finish 1st in that major national poll which we still use today whereas the Bowl Championship Series as it was in 2003 was phased out due to flaws which led to the current playoff system. LSU fans are simply threatened by the fact the AP poll holds weight as they have to hear that championship recognized year in an year out. ESPN recognized it covering this years title
