Not particularly surprising because his drops aren't always credited as turnovers and his touches are really just holding the ball until somebody gets it. Obviously, somebody like Gasol who's trying to get himself and teammates in position for easy shots will turn it over more than somebody just holding the ball while his teammates run to position to start the offense.
And I'm the biggest Asik fan there is. His defense is incredibly valuable and his offensive woes are easily minimized by just accepting his limitations.

Human error and subjectivity in stats tracking applies to all the other players on the list as well.

Gasol is obviously not the same type of center as the rest of the list, but the point is we are overreacting and the grass isn't nearly as green on the other side as people think. Now his getting blocked so easily and relatively low percentage at the rim is a problem and probably the only way to get away from it is to avoid it and play to his strengths like you're talking about.
The past several games we've seen a lot more of the high post dribble sideways and pass to the baseline for an easy basket. Let his touches be more of that and less of having to bail out a penetrating guard and people won't have as much to complain about.
