I've stayed at Marriott Eaton Centre a couple of times, which is a good option. Eaton Centre is their big mall. The Novotel is better if you want something closer to the water.
Jack Astor is a decent bar on Yonge/Dundas Square that I think has food late night if you need it. Just down the street on Yonge is a brewpub 3 Brewers. There is also a restaurant near there - of all places called Baton Rouge, that is good safe play for food. The Keg, their big chain steakhouse, is solid. I've also eaten at a great high end sushi/Asian place called Blowfish. The one on Bay isn't too crowded on the weekend because it is in a business area.
Eggspectation (in office building next to Marriott, no longer on Yonge) and Fran's diner (multiple locations) are decent breakfast joints to help shake off the hangover.
Oh, and don't forget the Hockey Hall of Fame. Not the greatest, but at least worth seeing a lot of cool old jerseys.
