I am guessing chavis had players out of position.

like whom?

chavis did run a pretty simple scheme that kept everything in front of guys and contained the edge, no doubt

it appears that steele runs a pressure-oriented system that is prone to give up big plays pretty often, so his scheme is a 180 from chavis in most respects. more sacks, more turnovers, more busted plays. but i don't see who is out of position (or was during chavis's tenure)

also that soft scheme did drive me nuts at times but it is the only D that consistently stops the HUNH in CFB. pressure schemes get WORKED by the spread-option HUNH (the offense is basically designed to stop pressure-based systems by using the option and the speed)

I agree with your points there, but what good is bragging about stomping aTm when you can't stop Arky? Chavis struggled for years with teams that lined up and ran it right at him. If anything is seems to me like the HUNH is being slowly figured out across the board, but that's just my opinion.

has his success against A&M overrated him in this department? I think he more found a huge hole in Manziel's game rather than figured out the spread option.
