My BIL owns a plumbing company in Western NY and put one in his house. It gets plenty cold there and his house is toasty warm without being dry.
He has two things going for him that I bet you don't that would make it cost prohibitive for you. A gas well that he gets free natural gas from and mad plumbing skills (you should check out his boiler room, it looks like something you would see on a nuclear sub).
He even has it in his driveway and side walks so he never has to plow. Legit.
