Its like there was this huge event on New Year's Day and then....nothing. The delay killed all of the momentum and it will only be worse in the coming years when the semis are played on NYE or Jan 2nd.

I know the Super Bowl has a two week gap but that is such a big event that the entire country focuses on. I don't know what the solution is and maybe it seems down due to there not being an SEC team, but there's a noticeable difference this year.

It should still be a great game.

Yeah this game should have been at least over the weekend. I hate the long layoff, and you're right, it took away a lot of momentum of wanting to watch it.
