There's no accountability in the news media anymore.

It's all about who can break the story the fastest, no matter the truthfulness of it or not.

correct, and a lot of this has to do with social media...with printed paper, you tend to get way more legit info because it isn't rushed and it's not written on impulse. plus, for the writer, they are a lot more conservative when writing something in the paper as opposed to a tweet, etc.

also, when it was the newspaper...everyone was getting it. they weren't fishing for hits because the paper shows up no matter what

There hasn't been in a long time. There is nothing special about our local news media that isn't the same as national news media.
