Only two more runs. Runnerguy is doing a blindfolded run of all child dungeons and then ZFG is going to do 100%. Over the past week they have raised $868,732.89. Absolutely awesome. I love this every year.

Speedrunners (people who beat games as fast as possible) take turns speedrunning their respective games for an entire week at the location of the event on stream on twitch.tv. The stream goes nonstop for an entire week, all the while they are receiving donations from viewers to go toward the Cancer Research fund.

I saw that guy own tetris when it got posted on the OT. I can't imagine playing one game that much.

I could be wrong, but I think it's the other way around. I think the speed demos archive and speed runs live communities put on these events which is even more impressive.
As far as speed running goes, I love watching these events but I agree that the actual act of doing the speedrun is too tedious for me to ever really want to do. Especially when it comes to a 3D zelda game, which are completely glitched and played out of order. Not only that, but if you ever watch these guys on twitch, they constantly reset the game after the slightest mistake.
Then you have to sometimes buy a japanese version of the game because the text scrolls faster in most cases. All versions and all difficulties are treated as equal.
It's very fun to watch though, especially super metroid.
