I just heard the same thing not too long ago. What I heard from the beginning is that they put together all the money they could scrape up between the three of them, make as much beer as they could, and once the beer had proven itself, then get investors/loans.

I say good for them- I like Hay-Ryed, they just don't seem to have much of a social presence like Great Raft does. I definitely think the SBC can support 3 breweries.
