depends what we are trying to do, i don't want to restructure ALL the guys you have listed. I want to be able to eat some of those monies this year so we're pushing less on the back end in future years. Is Drew really going to play another 4 years? Maybe i'm not sure, if we do an extension with him and he doesn't play those 2 years, we are extending dead cap into future years post drew.

Why do that though? You can still restructure their contracts and not spend the money allowing it to role over to next year. There is really no reason not to restructure. So, under your strategy, you could still eat the monies this year while also creating options in case of injury

Which I think is a good strategy. With the way rookie contracts are set up and the rising costs of QB's, we would want to have 1 year to eat the dead money post retirement and hopefully get a top QB in that draft. I think that is the best strategy with the current rookie rules.

Personally, I see little reason not to restructure all of the contracts listed and extend Brees.

The cap is going to go up again next year to probably add another $10 million. I believe 2017 is supposed to have a drastic jump with a new TV deal.

Like you said, who knows how many years Brees has left near the top. Set it up to win in 2015 and 2016 by protecting him and bringing in top quality FA's
