As far as the nicer or busier lunch/dinner spots like Commander's Palace, Peche, Cochon, La Boca, Luke, La Petite Grocery, etc... How far in advance should I make reservations? Would you go ahead and do that now?

If it's going to be CP, Peche or La Boca I'd just go ahead and make reservations now so you can get your preferred dining time. The others you're fine to wait and make the reservation a bit when you make up your mind. Just don't wait until the week before or you might have to slide into a 530 or 930 slot.

If you've never been to Parkway a visitation is in order. It's my 1a poboy joint, and Guy's (specifically their fried shrimp) is my 1b.

I also would like to get some good pho while in town for lunch one day. Where would you recommend? I've seen Pho Tau Bay and Tan Dinh mentioned online a bunch. Does the F&DB prefer one over the other, or is there another place worth checking out? I realize MoPho isn't authentic, but how does their pho compare?

Pho uptown go to Lilly's. Tan Dinh and Pho Tau Bay are both very good though, and just a quick trip across dah rivah.

am staying at the Embassy Suites near the convention center, so I will probably grab a free breakfast there most of the time. Any breakfast joints worth going out for? From what I've seen of District, I'd like to check it out.

If it were me I'd walk to Merchant in the CBD. I'm not big on breakfast so I'd just wait until lunch rather than stand in line somewhere like Ruby Slipper or Mother's. District overall is a pile of douchey shite. Steer clear.
