How far and how often are the most important questions

If not far, if not often, hook it up and go.

It would be a one time pull. From the rental company to about 8 miles away to our lot and then back. No interstate, 45mph max. My father in law has a car trailer that he uses to transport all his classic cars, but I don't think it has brakes, so this may be a no go unless I can find another trailer. They quoted me $300 in delivery charges, which is more than the rental itself, for a 16 mile round trip. I just really want to avoid paying that. Thanks guys.
