As a motorcyclist I am not a fan. I'll take my chances on one in a million head on crossover crahses versus losing virtually all of the runoff in every other conceivable accident scenario.

The fact that so many areas are in a constant state of disrepair does not mean that every cable guard struck was a car that was destined for the other lane. The reason many of the cable barriers are struck is the fact they are only a few feet from traffic in some cases.

I'm sure a study was done but it seems like the lifetime maintenance of this system may have offset the initial cost of a concrete barrier in the center of the median.

They had a lot of people in those one in a million crashes in South Louisiana before these barriers. Think a car full of kids was one.
