I will admit I'm a little worried. But with a coach like Chavis and school like LSU there are many moving parts/variable:

A) Chavis isn't "up-and-coming" he's established. So the need to keep things quiet to bolt (a la Saban on Christmas morning from FL) isn't there.

B) I can easily Chavis telling TAMU, maybe even LSU, he's not even going to discuss contracts till after the game. He's old school like that.

C) Doesn't his contract (or extension?) expire 12/31 of this year? So he's still under contract till after the game. Even more "leeway" for (B)

D) If that extension runs trough 2015 and I'm mistaken about it expiring in 2 days... then is the difference between LSU pay (with bonuses, and new offer) and what TAMU is offering greater than the buyout? Of course, I'm sure TAMU would take care of that one time buyout without it being factored into the salary.

All and all, other than vast sums of money I don't see the motivation here. I do see motivation and/or reasoning for him to delay, at least until after the game.

ETA: at least right now, the most interesting thing to me is who can/will make the call to match TAMU if necessary- Alleva or Miles? I'd love to be a fly on the wall to see. By the way, hints in the past say it lies mostly with Miles; he's gone to Alleva with asst. raises before successfully.
