2015 Hobie Outback vs. Old Town Predator XL Minn Kota

I think I have narrowed it down to these two. The PA is just too dang expensive, especially for a first Kayak.
Outback:
- Seems like a great set up with proven tech. Only drawback I see is limited standing area/length and limited mounting space without drilling in to boat. Also stuck using lowrance (right?)
Predator:
- Love the fact I could pull out the trolling motor and use the flat pod for shallow water trips, and cover more ground on lake days. Drawback is that it is a brand new set up and is the pricier of the two. Also less exercise.
Anything I am failing to consider. Anyone used the Predator yet?

You don't HAVE to use lowrance in an outback. Also, the standing room is ample. I have a 14, which has less space, and I stand fine
The 15 outback might be the most versatile kayak ever

I vote Hobie 15.
Trolling motor = Heavy arse motor, Heavy arse battery, limited range, registering your kayak.
I think I agree with most versatile kayak commment.

I have a 2015 Outback and have been researching fish finders/GPS' for a while now. You can mount several different brands other than lowrance, just make sure the transducer fits in the housing provided. There is a youtube video of a guy using a dremmel on the transducer plate to make a hummingbird fit.
I vote the Outback. I've been out 5 times in mine since I got it in late November, and it really is the tits. It took a little while to figure out where I wanted to store everything, but it's a well oiled machine now.
I highly recommend adding the rectangular storage hatch and sailing rudder. I got the Yak Attack Black Pack for Christmas, and the added rod holders and storage is nice as well.
ETA: Just looked up the Old Town. For that kind of money, go Hobie, you will not be disappointed. Plus, Hobie makes a trolling motor kit.

A friend of mine has a predator. It's nice looking yak. Stable, fast, and tracks well. He loves it. That's about all I can offer.
