East Feliciana
55 degrees with rain on the way
. 25-06 and 12 gauge pump

Deer hunting and wood duck hunting. Already have one male wood duck down. Deer have been slow so I figured I would diversify.

Another round for me and the boys wearing out the seats of our pants.

Carthage MS
50 degrees
Winds nearly calm

Back in my same blind-the bottom fell out right at 5:30, and the wisdom of age (and cellular radar) kept me in the box for nearly and hour and I opted to leave my gun and gear while making the mile trek on the slip and slide back to the truck.

I give my boys props-they've yet to see a deer between them but they were up and raring to go this morning. They didn't heed my advice about staying put last night and had a wild 4 wheeler ride into the peak of the monsoon.

Speaking of, when it first started pouring, I had a small doe and a spike come out and start feeding in the plot. Fuel for the debate about deer moving in the rain-the only ones I've seen all weekend

Delacroix update, four of us have 8 ducks but the fog is only getting heavier. Hoping the sun burns this soup off soon

It's so slow here I've been watching a squirrel rebuild a nest for about 30 minutes.

Where do you hunt in Carthage? A buddy of mine is in a club right off 25 and 16.

47 and holding
Light winds, ladder on the creek
Camp roof leaking all over my daughter's bed. Gotta fix that today while the rain holds off.

Lawrence County, MS
Box Mansion overlooking food plot
.270 Savage

Saw one average size doe at 8:30.

My son and I are passing, hoping for a buck to check her out.

There is no debate on rain movement for us over here. Saw six deer yesterday moving in the rain and in between showers.

jwal, we hunt my cousin's place that's almost halfway between Carthage and Philadelphia. I'd say in barren lands but the cameras suggest otherwise. Damn vampire deer-only move at night

Well...the Indian Bayou trip was a bust...got to the landing at 5am and "smelled" something while putting gear in boat...the Vortex 100K mile hub had failed...damaged the spindle as well...less than 2k miles on that trailer and its been maintained...probably be tomorrow before I can get the parts...

glad it didn't fail on the interstate...

Yea the deer here have gone nocturnal. I'm getting down at noon and giving it up until next Friday. I need some motivation because driving here from Flowood every morning is starting to suck. I thought for sure I would see something after the monsoon and more rain coming in around 2pm.

Try driving nearly 4 hours from BR and not seeing a thing. My boys get high marks for their persistence

I'm headed to Issaquena on Friday... From what you've heard and seen in the woods is the rut full blast yet ?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Good luck out there today

Not the one I was looking for. But considering it is the last day of rifle and the week I've had....he will do.

You should be proud of them. My son is 18 months and I can't wait for him to have to endure this crap with me. I actually just had a brown 4-legged animal out in front. A yearling, as bad as it's been I still couldn't shoot it. Very tempted though.
