Some crazies want to force all private 401-k's and IRA's into a government run program. This was especially touted after the crash in 2008. Thankfully, there is not quite enough stupid in D.C. to make this a reality.
They will attempt this sooner or later and that will be the beginning of the end. Because if its ever done their will be a coup in the country.

I look at SS as my fun money in retirement. I will have 2 pensions and 2 IRAs coming in to take care of our needs and the SS money is just extra. I have never planned on it being a "needed" retirement plan for our family.

Your fun money will not be there. It's called 'means testing' and you are going to fail the test.

Then I won't have as much fun as we have planned but if we don't get SS we will be just fine. I can get SS in 15 years so it may still be there

In fact the federal government "owes" social security trust fund roughly $2.7 trillion from money it's "borrowed" from those funds.
Isn't that how Bill Clinton created that surplus all the Liberals love to mention?
