He means they pull a negative net profit, not that they don't make money. They make a shite load of money, they simply reinvest it back into the company, which shows up as expenses on the income statement. They have more expenses than income most quarters.

Yes they do but as a company they are not turning a profit. Not sure how I can explain it better than that.
Them taking a % from people that sell on Amazon is just a small piece of their revenue pie.
