Who told you that?
Anyway, life wouldn't be life without free will.
Love of God would be worthless without choice.
I don't know what happens to people who knowingly reject God, but whatever happens, it is their own choosing.
And again, choice is a good thing. It can't be a bad thing that you are given a choice. It's only bad when you have to choose with incomplete information, but I don't believe that a loving God would damn someone for ignorance.
