A state Rep from Grant Parish held up the four laning of Hwy 167 through Dry Prong for several years, insisting the route go through a piece of property he owned. He finally got what he wanted, and got around a $million for property that would have been worth about $50k on the open market.

Meanwhile, the Baptist Church in Dry Prong-of which the Rep was a member and deacon-had been assured the road would take another direction, and built a new building based on it. When the plans changed, they lost the space they were counting on for a parking lot. So he not only screwed the taxpayers, he screwed his own church.

I won't bother to post his name, but he was a Rep from 2007-2011, if you're really interested in looking him up.

A lot of similar shite was involved in the I-49 route through Alexandria.
