Shorty-I still wouldn't trade last years offense with ANY offense in college football.

Odd. You wouldn't have wanted to be one of the 23 schools to score more PPG than us or one of the 4 SEC schools to do it? I mean, we do play offense in order to score, correct?

You wouldn't have traded it for one of the 32 teams to gain more yards than LSU to include 5 SEC teams?

I mean, hey, our offense last year was pretty good, but let's be rational here.

And I would rather have an offense that you have to be aware of TWO receivers than just ONE. And those offenses with 6 different targets you mentioned most probably had a woeful running game.

Interesting. LSU finished 42nd in passing yards and 30th in rushing yards. Do you really want me to list all the schools, to include SEC schools, that finished ahead of us in BOTH categories or damned close in one while ahead in the other? I mean, ya know, since you are asserting they'd have been "woeful" at running.

Well the offense last year scored enough points to beat anyone besides BAMA. Sometimes your DEFENSE has to show up. And this year was the complete opposite, DEFENSE was outstanding save for 2 games, Auburn and Miss. St.

Those 32 teams that GAINED more yards than LSU, where did they end of ranked last year???

Again the 42 teams that finished AHEAD of LSU in passing yards where did they finsh at the end of the year???

And while you at it, name all those schools that played a competitive schedule as LSU also. So again you can keep your yardage national champions, give me and EFFICIENT OFFENSE and DEFENSE and I will take that anytime. I guarantee one thing, if Georgia had LSU DEFENSE this year they are in the SEC Championship game. There offense was EFFICIENT enough to win that division, there DEFENSE wasn't.

No doubt the offense last year was good. I agree. The defense was down. I agree. The four guys producing in the NFL on offense support this. Last year the offenses across CFB were very good. This is why I like Cam. How many catches and yards did the 3rd, 4th, and 5th receiver have last year for LSU? Dural had 7 catches. Look it up. Now look up the other RBs vs Hill. Magee had an average of 7.3 YPC last year. This year not so much. LSU's offense last year was based primarily on four players. Throw TM in their for five if you like and clearly a solid OL.

This year the OL was learning a new scheme. The RBs were not as good in part because of this and the QBs were not in Metts league. Plain and simple.

Only 8 teams in cfb scored more points per play.

Only 11 teams in all of cfb had a better yards per play ranking.

Total yards and point pee game are skewed by the number of plays ran.for example, lsu was 12th in all of cfb in yards per play, but we were 105th in plays ran which skewed our totals. If lsu had ran a hurry up no huddle offense our total offenseove yardage wouldve been better than 33rd and our scoring wouldve been better than 23rd.

I put it like this. When the ball was snapped, only 11 teams in all of cfb had more success at gaining yardage.
Yards per play and points per play arent skewed by anything, while total offense and ppg are skewed by the total number of plays ran.

2013 lsu offense
12th in the entire ncaa in yards per play
9th in the entire ncaa in points per play
1st in the entire ncaa in 3rd down conversion
6th in the entire ncaa in passing Efficiency.

Thats elite offense.
